From Julie Howerton, Guatemala Team member on the field right now.
It is not often that we have extraordinary moments but I had one today. After a long wild van ride we arrived at the church high in the mountains on a dirt road. Twenty families representatives were eagerly waiting because they had been informed that the American team was bringing food. I personally got to give two food bags to an elderly woman. As she hugged me, I could not understand her loud cries but her heartfelt love and gratitude were easily recognized. After prayer the church was filled with the loud singing of praises to God. God’s Spirit united us in love and purpose despite the language and cultural barriers. Afterward we had the privilege of playing with, teaching, and passing out toys to 79 children and 30 adults who were grateful for and encouraged by the Americans God had sent. Tomorrow we will go to a church even more remote and higher in the mountains. Their initial building was entirely funded by the Bridge even before we had our own building. We are excited to see what God will do there.
