Mobilizing for flood relief: The Plan
Bridge Family,
As you can imagine, the needs of Spring Hill and the greater Nashville area are overwhelming. As is always the case, we have a chance to redeem something evil for God’s gospel purposes in the world. As a church body we’ll be urgently mobilizing this week to serve and love the city, meeting needs as a harbinger of the gospel. Every one of us, to a person, has a role to play as we extend Jesus’ fame in new ways to Spring Hill this week.
Here’s a two-step outline of our plan…
- Small Group leaders will be mobilizing their small groups to adopt a person or family who has been hurt by the flooding. Group leaders will be getting an email from Scott Shoopman today with instructions about their role.
- Susan Howerton (Missions Minister) will be “Mission Control” for these efforts by connecting people with special skills and Small Groups with needs.
Here’s your role…
1. Contact your small group leader, alerting them of any needs you or someone you know has, understanding that we will not be able to meet every need reported. Your small group leader will then pass that onto Susan.
2. If you possess any skills that will be especially helpful in the flood recovery process, contact Susan personally to let her know what skills you have and that you’re willing to be used.
3. Wait for leadership direction from your small group leader as they hear from Susan and follow them with humility and passion.
4. Love. What looks purposed for evil, God means for good. We have an opportunity to love the city in a way we would otherwise not have been able. Possess grace and serve radically.

I love you, Bridge Family. God just turned One Great Day into One Great Week. We’re blessed.
