UPDATE: Bridgers, pray for and help families in Spring Hill who lost a lot in last night’s flooding and who stand to take more damage as storms roll back in today.  Thompson Station Church’s new building flooded with around 6 inches of water and several neighborhoods were evacuated.

As of right now the hard rain has closed Kedron Road, is threatening to flood part of Port Royal, and has already closed roads throughout Spring Hill. The weather forecasts hard rain to continue throughout the night and into the morning which would cause continued widespread flooding.

AS A RESULT THE ELDERS HAVE REGRETFULLY DECIDED TO CANCEL TOMORROW’S (May 2nd) WORSHIP GATHERING. It’s such a sweet and powerful time for the church body right now that this is a hard decision, but that doesn’t mean that worship won’t happen.

Take 30 minutes tomorrow and make it a family worship service.  If this is new to you, here are some guidelines for what this could look like…

  • Begin by eating a generous portion of chocolate chip pancakes or other hearty breakfast
  • Pull the family together and sing a familiar hymn with each other.  (If you’ve never done this before, it will feel awkward for the first few seconds.  Just plow on through because it can be really powerful.)
  • Read 1 Corinthians 9:19-26 together and talk through the following questions…
    • What sticks out to you the most when you read this?
    • What things do verses 19-23 mean that Paul will do to reach people with the gospel?  What things do you think he will not do?
    • Throughout Paul’s ministry he went back to the “tribe” of people that he belonged to when Jesus saved him – the religious, legalistic Pharisees – because he knew how to relate to them better than anyone else.  Who is your “tribe” that you are better equipped to reach than most other people?
    • What keeps you from having the same passion for the spread of the gospel as Paul?
  • Pray together.
  • Enjoy a lazy Sunday!
