I wanted to give everyone a little site tour to point out some cool features you may have missed and answer some common questions.

Podcast

One of the main things we wanted to get accomplished in setting up a new site was to get a system in place for allowing people to download the weekly sermons. The downloads page accomplishes that. It is a central place where you can listen, download and subscribe to all of The Bridge sermons. What we’re really excited about it is the fact that you don’t have to use iTunes to play these files, though you can do that. The downloads page itself has the ability to let you download and listen to our library of sermons right from the page itself.

Prayer Wall

I wanted to give you a “day in the life of a prayer”, or really what happens when you submit a prayer on the Prayer Wall. The Prayer Wall, as opposed to the Podcast, was not a feature of the website that we set out to create. It’s really an opportunity that came to us and we really can’t imagine having the site without it anymore. We’re quite excited to see God move through the church body with this tool.

The process always starts with your Prayer Wall request going to our staff to be prayed for. From that point, different things happen depending on some choices you make. Your first choice is your sharing option.

Share This: If you choose this option, your name and prayer request are shared with the public once it’s approved.
Share This Anonymously: This choice will only share your prayer request and not any of your personal information.
DO NOT Share This: Only the staff will see this request and your information & request will never be shared with the public.

After that there is one final choice you’ll need to make and that is whether or not to share your request on Twitter. If you’re not familiar with Twitter, then you can just leave this box blank. For the purposes of the Prayer Wall, the Twitter option allows those who have subscribed to get your prayer request faster. It is important to note that if you choose to share your request over Twitter, your previous “Share” option will be respected. For example, if you choose “Share This Anonymously” then your personal information will be withheld from Twitter just like it’s withheld from the Prayer Wall.

Blog Avatars

One of the cooler features of any blog is the ability to create and maintain an identity that follows you as you post and comment. If you’d like to your own snazzy picture next to your name, as exampled here, you need to check out the site Gravatar.com. This will let you upload your own cool picture and it’ll show up right here on BridgeSH.com. The only trick is to comment with the same email address that you signed up for Gravatar with.

If you choose not to sign up, don’t worry. The only different is that you’ll see a little Gravatar logo by your name instead of a custom picture.

Church Directory

One of the more used features of our previous website was the ability to log into our church directory database. If you haven’t used this before or don’t know what I’m talking about, sign up for an account today. This great tool lets you contact other members, sign up for a small group, and even get financial records of your past tithing and gifts.

We’ve incorporated a log in box in the bottom right hand corner of each and every page so you can always easily find your way to this directory.

Email

As part of the new website we’ve setup all new email accounts for The Bridge staff. We’ve followed a naming convention for setting up these accounts, so they’re all patterned the same. All BridgeSH.com staff email addresses are “FirstName.LastName@BridgeSH.com”.

Here is a list of current staff and elder email addresses.

Alan.Hood@BridgeSH.com
